Project Overview
Collaborated with Rohan Pasricha to design the cover for Satsang, a book authored by Swami Shashwat Ji and published by Motilal Banarsidass, a renowned publisher. The project pushed me out of my comfort zone, both in terms of subject matter and creative challenge.
Challenges
The project posed two main challenges. First, the topic of the book was far from my usual scope, which made it difficult to connect with the subject at first. Second, I was unsure if I could do justice to such a meaningful work with my design.
Process
I began by reviewing the initial draft, which provided a basic direction, but quickly realized the concept needed more work. Rather than just editing, I took the opportunity to create something new. To build the visual foundation, I used DALL·E to generate a background that matched the book's theme. For the portrait of Swamiji, I took a photo and transformed it into a detailed illustration using Sketch on my iPad. Finally, I brought everything together in Photoshop, carefully adjusting the design to ensure it felt cohesive and professional, suitable for publication.
Outcome
The final cover design combines traditional spiritual elements with a modern aesthetic, resulting in a visually compelling and respectful representation of the book's content.
